Alexander Curry holds a PhD from the Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS), School of Advanced Study (SOAS), University of London.
He is a Latin America Research Fellow with a particular focus on Mexico and Colombia. His research focuses on the construction of citizenship, the impact of “Autodefensas” (self-defence groups) on state-society relations, and the role of civil society organizations in areas affected by high levels of violence. He is based in London. He is a graduate of the University of Manchester and holds a Master’s in International Relations from King’s College London.
Alexander has carried out field research in Mexico, primarily in the south- western state of Michoacán.
