Etienne Dignat is a Phd student in political theory at the Centre de recherches internationales (CERI - Sciences Po). His thesis, « Should we rescue at all costs ? The hostage dilemma », focuses on the ethical and political issues related to the duty to assist and the measure of the human life’s value. He explores the hostage issues through different case studies, as he did fieldwork in Colombia, United-State, Israel, France and the United Kingdom.
Etienne Dignat is also a lecturer at Science Po (« Ethics of war »), a member of AEGES (Association pour les Etudes sur la Guerre et la Stratégie) as part of the work group ‘Ethics of war’, and a visiting doctoral student at the University of Oxford.
He studied litterature at the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Lyon) and graduated with a master degree in Public Affairs at Science Po (Paris).
